Hot Chocolate & Black Friday

File this in the "better late than never" category!

I'm so proud of the VCW folks that turned out at 3:30 a.m. to be a blessing to the folks waiting in line at the local Walmart on Black Friday. We gave out 350 cups of hot chocolate. 350!

I didn't realize there were that many crazy people up at that time of the day!

We did it simply to show God's love in a practical way. When people rushed our table with money in hand, asking, "Are you selling something hot?", it was a blast saying, "No...we're giving it away free." That was the last thing they expected!

Why Walmart? In my almost one year of being in Waterville, Walmart is the only common gathering place I've been able to identify. All classes. All races. All ages. All come to Walmart at some point.

So that's exactly where I want our church to be.

The best part? They want us back. Often.
